Angelina Rae was asked to give her top ten reasons for singing in Gorgeous Pet. Each answer needed to be in four words or less. These parameters were put in place after we tried to interview her and ended up with 3 hours of audio to edit. Sensing your short attention span it was decided to truncate her views into very short answers. Please enjoy.
Maxx is obsessed with it. So much so that when recording or mixing music it is mandatory that only green lights be used in the studio. He doesn't know why. It's just always been that way, and according to him, "music sounds better in green".
Angelina and Maxx only record after the sun goes down. Maxx produces their music in a studio called Sonic 9 which is somewhere in Arizona, USA.
The two create all of the music, videos, and content by themselves. Typically in the wee hours of the morning when the rest of the world is quiet. They are inspired by stars and water. So floating in a dark swimming pool looking up at the vast Arizona sky is great inspiration for them.
No one but an engineer and their chef are typically allowed to be present when the group records. The engineer is usually Maxx himself and the chef? "Maxx is gluten free and I like to eat 6 meals a day... small ones". Says Angelina, "So if we had to go get specialty food all night we would never get anything done! Our chef Raul is the goat. He can whip up a Denver omelette that rivals... Well Raul is just the fucking GOAT."
It is important to note this story is completely made up as they do not have a chef who makes Denver omelettes. They have two weiner dogs named Ginger and Pepper.
The group writes and records at "Sonic 9 Studios" This first studio is in Denmark was where they originally recorded with famed producer Ulrich Münshtik, however the sessions were scrapped as the recordings were not meeting the groups expectations. They also found Denmark to be excruciatingly cold and uninspiring compared to Arizona.
Maxx and Angelina are both originally from Southern California. Maxx: Los Angeles and Angelina further south in San Diego (Poway to be exact). They both moved to Arizona to get a change of scenery. The two met on Match.com because Maxx wanted a female singer and was finding no one that fit the bill. "I figured, there's a lot of girls on the dating sites... TONS more than on Craigslist!". Prior to forming Gorgeous Pet in 2023, Angelina had never sang into a microphone before. "I'm a good sport. When Maxx prodded me to sing I reluctantly gave it a shot. I have terrible stage fright but that is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Maxx has me writing songs, flying airplanes and doing all kinds of reckless and crazy things I never did before. I'm not a singer at all... I just do it and hope for the best. It's all for fun. We don't think about it beyond having fun and making art."
A musical style coined by multi-instrumentalist Maxx NormaL and the word he uses to describe the music of Gorgeous Pet. "It's really neither Metal or EDM, but some kind of amalgamation (or abomination) of the two. Some people think that my taste is Metal and Angelina is into Dance, but the truth is we both listen to every kind of music imaginable. What's constant is the beat. Even if it's a crazy slow song... I wanna hear a beat".
